Vintage Chest

I have a confession to make:
I LOVE to find free stuff. LOVE IT! The city we moved to last year has a once a month large garbage collection. Which means that lots of people put out useful, outdated, solid wood pieces and even ugly pieces of furniture. Sometimes all they need is a good cleaning, a fresh coat of paint, maybe some distressing and some antiquing glaze to bring out their beauty. Some day I will do a post on all the free, roadside finds that we have used to furnish our house.

This beauty was put out on the curb last month. I hated to see it go to the garbage, so my dear Husband picked it up for me. I have really enjoyed learning and trying new techniques in painting furniture. So, I decided to give this a fresh new look and then try and sell it on Craig’s list to earn me a little NEW YORK spending cash.I sanded it down, painted it a sage green (I have a lot left over from a room painting) distressed it, then glazed it with a dark walnut stain. It turned out BEAUTIFULLY. I quickly sold it on Craig’s list and now am currently looking for another roadside project.
