This year I headed to Sam’s Club to pick up a big 54 oz bag of Skittles to make some wonderful basketball foods with. The Skittles were easy to find on a big pallet in the middle of the isle by the produce. After I picked up my bag, I headed home to concoct some fun Skittles recipes.
The first fun basketball food I made was a Skittles Basketball court made from Crispy Treats and Skittles as the outline. Simply make a pan of your favorite Crispy treat recipe and while they are still warm outline the line of the court with Skittles in the color of your choice. This is a great activity to involve your kids in. My son loved making this basketball court and just about pushed my out of the way while he worked.
My next recipe we have had so much fun experimenting with. It is so fun and easy to make Skittles Soda Pop. You will need:
10-12 Skittles in the color of your choice
Diet Lemon Lime Soda
Place the Skittles in a clear cup and slowly pour about 1 cup of soda over the Skittles. Let them dissolve for about 4 minutes. After 4 minutes you can choose to remove what is left of the skittles before drinking or, for even more flavor, leave the skittle in longer. It is your choice. It has been fun to see what colors and flavors we can make, and I love watching the Skittles dissolve and change the color of the soda.
My family has had a lot of fun making basketball sweeter with these Skittles treats. I think the Skittles Soda Pop was the most fun. My family couldn’t stop themselves from concocting knew flavor combinations and it is such an amazing transformation to watch.
I also made a Skittles swish the rainbow, taste the rainbow basketball goal, fitted with a clear cup to hold the Skittles for our own Skittles Tourney. With this we can serve up Skittles or we can have a Skittles basketball contest. You get to eat all the Skittles that you make into the basket whether it is jump shot, three pointer, nothing but net, or a slam dunk!
I love to watch our team make nothing but net 3 pointers. What is your favorite thing about basketball tournaments?
