I love giving out cookies, bars and goodies to my friends and neighbors this time of year.  It is especially fun if I can make the goodies adorable, delicious and memorable!

hot cocoa cookie storeWhile I was at Walmart the other day, I noticed a new flavor of NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough, Hot Cocoa!  The wheels in my head started turning and I thought how fun it would be to make a cookie in the shape of a hot cocoa cup, so I picked up a couple of packages.

NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough makes baking so easy, I was able to put my Hot Coca Mug Cookies together in no time.  The printed recipe is below, but I will also talk you through the instructions here.

Place one precut cookie dough piece in each space of the muffin tin.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.  Quickly take the pan out of the oven and place a mound of mini marshmallows on top of each cookie.  Place back in the oven and bake for an additional minute.  This will melt the marshmallows slightly and help keep them in place.  If you would like your guests to customize their own Hot Cocoa cookie cup with whipped cream, leave out the marshmallow step.

To make the handle is simple and easy.  Purchase a bag of chocolate covered pretzel twists.  With a serrated knife score down the middle of the pretzel before cutting.  That will help keep the pretzel from breaking.  Dip the cut edge of the pretzel in the melted chocolate chips and then gently press into the side of the cookie.  Set on a lightly greased plate with the pretzel handle resting on the lip of the plate.  I found that this helped keep the handle in place while the chocolate set.

I think they turned out marvelously cute.  It was hard to stop taking pictures of them.  The cookie cups topped with marshmallows are perfect to take and give to friends and neighbors.  If you are serving them in your home or at a party you might like to leave some cookies without marshmallows.  This way your guests can customize their cookies with whipped cream and sprinkles.
