Yes you read that title right! These are the BEST oatmeal chocolate chips cookies ever!! How can I say that? I have been making this recipe for over 20 years and it never fails. We take them to potlucks, Cub Scout meeting, PTO meetings, picnics, we give them away at Christmas AND we make them EVERY Sunday! Yes folks if you want to know my favorite cookie recipe this is it and I am finally sharing it with you.
Over the years I have found some tricks that make these truly delicious. I use only real, salted butter and pure vanilla. Trust me it does make a difference. Now, in the recipe I share I do give a measurement for the chocolate chips, but that measurement changes in this house according to who is making the cookies.
I have two (My husband and my red-head) that basically just dump the chocolate chips until they feel like there is enough chocolate. Their motto is the more chocolate the better. They know just how many chocolate chips to use for the dough to hold them together. Their cookies are extra chocolaty and always delicious. I like more of a balanced ratio of dough to chocolate. Either way is always good and you will never go wrong with this recipe. And now you know what our family will be eating every Sunday night!
The BEST oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup oatmeal quick oats
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
cream sugars and butter
Add the egg and vanilla
Place the flour, baking powder & baking soda in the mixing bowl.
Mix together with the other ingredients
Add chocolate chips
Blend until incorporated evenly
Drop by TBL full on a greased cookie sheet
Bake at 400 for 8-9 until just golden brown
