Destined for Doon is the sequel to Doon written by Carey Corp. In this book we revisit Mackenna Reid who has realized she has made a horrible mistake in choosing her dream of a career on Broadway instead of remaining in the enchanted land of Doon with her love interest Prince Duncan. However, Duncan returns to the modern world to tell Mackenna that an ancient curse has returned to Doon and the new queen, Mckenna’s best friend Veronica, needs help only Mackenna can give. Mckeena returns with Duncan to Doon where Keena and Vee fight side by side to battle this ancient curse and where Mackenna tries to figure out what is her happily ever after.
This book is a young adult novel and it really is written toward teenage girls. I really think they would love the love story and adventures that are found in this book. The language in the book is how teenagers talk and think. Well written from a young adult perspective. It is the second book in the series and you must read the the first book Doon to know what is going on. There are lots of references to what transpired in the first book that don’t go into detail, so you must read the book Doon to follow this story line. I enjoyed reading this book. For me it was a light read, perfect to just relax too. I love the plot of this book, with the magical land of Doon. Something I have always dreamed of finding. I look forward to any other books these authors have planned.
