Stella Varland is a former beauty queen who life has been turned upside down by divorce. For so long she relied on her appearance to make in her life, but after the divorce she doesn’t trust beauty anymore. She is jobless and living with her parents and nothing seems to be working right. Then in walks her old flame, Chase Taylor. He is ready to make his life right and fate throws Chase and Stella together to work on the same project, restoring the old downtown Theater. Through ups and downs, catastrophes and small town gossip, Stella and Chase come to realize what they truly want in life.
I enjoyed reading this book. I have read other books by Betsy St. Amant in the past and have enjoyed them. While this story was sweet, it didn’t draw me in like some of her other works. I did enjoy getting to know the characters. Stella was in another book for St. Amant’s “All Fair in Love and Cupcakes”. In that book we follow the life of Stella’s sister. It was interesting to see the stories interview, and to get to know the whole family and more of the town.
