Our family dynamics have changed recently. Because my kids insist on growing up and getting older every year, we have gone from having 4 kids in the house to only 2 kids. This has been quite an adjustment for me and my husband. We have decided this year to be more intentional with planning family time together because we know how important it is. When all my kids were younger we seemed to spend more time together naturally. Now that I have teenagers we have to plan a little more.
We decided one fun thing to do was choose a move and hold a family movie night. I wanted something that would be family friendly and interesting to us all. I discovered that Goosebumps 2 is now available at Walmart. Goosebumps 2 is the second installment of R.L. Stine’s popular book series Goosebumps. (I remember my brother reading these books years ago). Walmart has Goosebumps 2 Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Combo Pack and the Walmart Exclusive Goosebumps 1 and Goosebumps 2 movie collection on Blu-ray. None of us had ever seen it, so it was perfect for the first family movie night of the year.
To make the night feel more special I made a printable to announce to the family when movie night was being held and what movie would be playing. I also created easy Goosebumps 2 themed snacks to enjoy while we watched.
This easy candy popcorn is made with 5 ingredients and cooks up fast. It is a little sticky, but that makes it more fun. This recipe would also be wonderful to make popcorn balls with. Since it is made with flavored gelatin you can choose the flavors and colors you like the most. I decided to use lime gelatin because I love the flavor and the color fit will with the Goosebumps 2 movie.
Without revealing any spoilers, there is a great gummy bear scene that we all loved. In fact, my son was talking to me about it this morning, days after we watched the movie. We had gummy bears to eat and I even froze some in ice cubes to have in our soda. All you need to do is place one gummy bear in each cube of an ice cube tray. Cover with water and freeze. Once frozen they are ready for your family to have a fun drink. Movie nights are always more fun with themed snacks.
To say our Goosebumps 2 movie night was a success is an understatement. After the movie we all sat around and talked and laughed about our favorite parts. We decided it would be a great movie to share with friends anytime but especially at Halloween. We already have plans for a Goosebumps 2 Halloween party. It is so important to spend time with your family. Intentional time reaps the best rewards. Events such a movie night don’t have to take a lot of planning or effort to put together. Simplicity is key in my house so we can all enjoy it, including me. To make it easier for you to host a movie night I have included a free printable (below) to announce your movie night and the recipe (below) for my flavored candy popcorn.
If you want to have a memorable movie night with your family head to Walmart to pick up Goosebumps 2. I promise you will laugh, maybe scream and make some great memories. What is your favorite way to spend time with your family?
