I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
For the past two years I have been enjoying the Archangel Prophecies trilogy. (Dark Hope Review, Dark Rising Review). I love the writing style of author Monica McGurk. The descriptions and story lines flow well and keep me interested well past my bedtime. Not every book has been known to do that for me. This whole series has kept me rubbing my eyes, pinching myself and whatever else it takes to keep me awake to read because I just keep wanting to read more. I have been highly anticipating the third and final book so I could discover how the story of Hope Carmichael and Michael the archangel resolves. I was not disappointed in “Dark Before Dawn”. The writing was crisp and thoughtful and the storyline nothing where I could anticipate knowing what was going to happen.
Monica McGurk first rose to fame when she receive the 2013 TwiFic Fandom Undiscovered Gem award for her alternate ending to the Twilight series. She is also a advocate for women and voice against human trafficking, which the plot of this series and especially the final book revolve around. McGurk admits that she was nervous about this book because it does deal with the subject of domestic minor sex trafficking more deeply. There are some scenes which could be viewed as disturbing, but it helps tell the story and to bring to light some of the horrors of domestic minor sex trafficking that are happening in our country.
I always like to get book recommendations from friends and I would love to recommend “Dark Before Dawn” and the entire “Archangel Prophecies” to you. I have so enjoyed the series because of the fresh and new plot lines and subject. I believe that you too will be glad that you stumbled upon Monic McGurk as an author.
