Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so I am busy preparing things ahead of time so I can enjoy family and friends that day.  Since we live far from family we usually host Thanksgiving at our home and invite friends over to celebrate with us.  In my mind I picture a perfectly decorated and clean home to welcome our guests to.  However, that can take a lot of work, so I try to find ways to make my home beautiful and clean, without wearing myself out.

I also like to decorate for Thanksgiving.  All the common rooms have decorations giving a nod to the season.  In the kitchen I like to have a few decorations also, but I like to keep them simple since there is so much mess that goes on in the kitchen.  This year I created a DIY Thanksgiving soap dispenser so I could have some pretty Thanksgiving decor in the kitchen and have it serve a purpose as well.

windex collageI took the soap pump from an empty plastic soap dispenser I was throwing away.  I found this great glass bottle at the craft store and they fit perfectly.  To make the dispenser fit snuggly in the bottle I wrapped a piece of craft foam cut to the size of the hole and wrapped it with tape and placed it in the top of the bottle.  This will keep your dispenser snug.

For the floral decor I purchased an autumnal candle ring which I simply slid onto the bottle.  It was a perfect fit.  You could also make your own ring out of any floral product and wire.  I purchased the metal chalkboard plate which already had the twine.

Write a simple Thanksgiving message on the chalkboard and hang it around the neck of the bottle.  Easy Peasy and simply beautiful.  You can also use this idea to decorate any soap dispenser you already have to compliment the season.

windex 5Fill the soap bottle with a dish soap that compliments the colors of your floral arrangement.  Don’t worry there are lots of colors to choose from!

I placed my dispenser by my kitchen sink on an old board and added a sweet, tiny pumpkin.  Any type of tray or piece of wood would work.  It helps to enhance the display and catch your eye.

Now that my kitchen will be beautiful I am making plans to have my home neat and tidy.  While I was at Walmart the other day I spied some Windex® and Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles®Bathroom  Cleaner cleaning products that I felt would make sprucing up my holiday home easier.

windex store

Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel, Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles®Bathroom Cleaner, Windex® Original Glass Cleaner, Windex® Original Glass Wipes are products designed to make cleaning quick and easy.

windex 9I love to use these Windex® Original Glass Wipes to shine up my kitchen.  They clean the windows easily and also help make my sink sparkle.  They are wonderful to clean my new soap dispenser too.  When you buy these products there is a $5 rebate offer off of holiday photos, plus Walmart is offering $1 off coupons for these products as well.

What is your favorite way to make your holiday home sparkle?
