If you are looking for Easter Care Package Ideas this post has them, even how to mail a giant Easter Egg without a box!
These care package ideas are great for college students, deployed military and missionaries
Right now I have one daughter in college and one who is serving a mission for our church in California. I am always looking for ideas of things to put in their care packages.
While searching Pinterest a few weeks ago for ideas, I discovered that you can send a giant easter egg through the mail. NO BOX!!
Since I didn’t have any great ideas for Easter basket boxes, that is what I did.
I found this “giant” egg at the dollar tree. It is about a foot long and 6 inches wide.
I filled it with traditional easter candy that I know my daughter likes:
- Reese’e Easter bunnies
- marshmallow bunnies
- sugar filled carrots
- breath mints
- Ghirardelli bunnies
- Easter lip gloss
- mini eggs filled with candy
The egg actually held a lot more that I was thinking. I also slipped in some:
- handwritten notes from friends
- a little cash
- a letter from mom
How to send an Easter Egg care package in the mail
Once I had it stuffed full I tape it up well with packing tape. First all the way around the seam. Then over and under across the top.
I then wrote out the address on a piece of paper and taped that securely, as well as the return address. Once everything was super secure I took it to the post office.
Now, the post’s I read about sending an egg through the mail made it seem “cheap” to mail it. Under $6. However, in April 2019 for a 1 lb 1oz Easter egg, unboxed it cost me $14.
I could have saved $1.50 by having it arrive slower. I was a little shocked, because it wasn’t that heavy. But it will be fun for my daughter to receive such a surprise in the mail.
