For years I have loved decorating my home for the different seasons. I have always looked forward to it and when the kids were little they loved to help get everything out. Now that I have the chance to create beautiful decor without the opinions of small children, I find that I have less time than I thought I would to enjoy decorating. I still like to add a few simple decorations for the season and the mantle usually gets a makeover, but I have found ways to add some elegant and fun decor quickly, in just minutes. This helps me still enjoy seasonal decor in my home while not feeling overwhelmed.
One way to do this is to use large decorations. That way they make more impact in your space and make it not feel so cluttered. I love this witch silhouette from Oriental Trading. It reminded my of one that was advertised in the Pottery Barn catalog, but the price on this one was MUCH cheaper! It is intended to be a yard stake, but I brought it indoors for a big impact. By the way, witches are my favorite Halloween character but I am picky about them. I like a friendly looking witch and not a terrifying one. This witch fits the bill!
To simplify decor I like to use elements that can cross over holidays. This black lantern filled with pre-light fall leaves can take my decor from September to Thanksgiving without having to be changed. In fact the only thing I will have to take away after Halloween is my witch and replace it with a turkey. Easy Peasy!
The fall berry wreath is another element that can stay out for months. It is the perfect size for my mirror. I like to hang wreaths in front of mirrors to add some visual interest and the light from the mirror really highlights the beauty of the wreath.
I had so much fun putting together this simple Halloween vignette that will easily be changed to Thanksgiving. I found all the decor pieces at Oriental Trading. I love looking through their catalog and seeing all the wonderful pieces I can use to put together some fun decor. The great thing is, I can order online and then receive a big box of fun on my doorstep. What could be better?
