Easy ways to be prepared for cold and flu season with medicine cabinet organization ideas and planning ahead.
I am a planner. I have been for all of my life. It is part of my personality. I plan my week ahead of time so I know what is going on, I plan meals so I know what to buy at the grocery store once a week so I am not constantly traveling back and forth. I also like to plan further ahead for thing like vacations, birthday parties etc. When I plan ahead I know that I will have the things that I need.
Cold and flu season is just around the corner, so it is time for me (and you) to start planning so that we can be prepared. There is nothing worse than being ill and having to run to the store for tissues, medicines or anything else that you may need to help you feel comfortable during your illness. It is time to prepare and organize your medicine cabinet.
I discovered that Kroger has everything that I need to be prepared for this cold and flu season. Kleenex® has these amazing germ removal wipes that will come in handy to keep everything clean. Kleenex® Germ Removal Wet Wipes are dependable, soft and safely wipe away 99% of germs from skin using no harsh chemicals. Lipton also has a Wellness line that is made with a blend of botanicals and essential oils that can help with your everyday wellbeing. Soothe Your Tummy uses ginger and peppermint blended with natural essential oils that soothe when your tummy doesn’t feel it’s best.* Theraflu has just released their new Theraflu Power Pods that are compatible with most single serve coffee makers. They are available in both Daytime Severe Cold and Nighttime Severe Cold and they provide powerful relief without a prescription.
I decided I would put together a box of these cold and flu essentials to have on hand when one of us develops cold or flu symptoms.
The first thing to do to be the best prepared, is to go through your medicine cabinet and sort everything you have.
~Get rid of any expired medicines
~Get rid of medication you do not use any more
~Get rid of medication your kids may have outgrown
~sort the medication and products by categories (pain relief, vitamins, cold/flu, first aid, children’s etc.)
To help my medicine cabinet stay more organized and have like items stay together I up-cycled some cereal boxes into cute organizational boxes.
You will need:
~sticky backed paper
~black construction paper (or another color)
~chalk marker (or other marker)
1.Start by cutting the back off of a box. Cut the sides and bend inward to create the size box you need. Secure with packing tape.
2.Cut a piece of sticky backed paper to fit covering your box. You will want to go up and over the sides as well. Set the box in the middle of the paper.
3.Cut slits in the paper at each corner of the box. Take the sticky paper up and over the box, slowly and carefully pressing to secure.
4.Do this to each side. (you will have extra square of paper that you have cut out)
5.Cut another piece of sticky paper to put in the bottom of the box.
6. The tag I made is out of black construction paper that looks like a chalkboard tag. I cut the black paper to the size I wanted and wrote the label with a white chalk marker. Then I secured it to my decorative box with a piece of packing tape.
After making a few other boxes of different sizes I was ready to organize my medicine cabinet. I grouped like items together such as vitamins and pain relief. I also made a box dedicated to cold and flu relief with the new products I picked up at Kroger. Now I am ready for cold and flu season.
