I love a good football game and a great party to go with it! With all the Football play-offs happening it is time for your team to take it to the house and win big! I have some fun and easy Big-Game party ideas to help you score with your biggest fans.
To make a party really stand out and feel special I like to add a few key decorations so my guests know that they have been invited to a great party that will have some great food and fun. In my house I like to decorate this sideboard with shelves above it for our shindigs. It is perfect to set up a buffet with party food and the shelves make a great place for decorations.
I added some simple touches for the shelf decor. Pom Pom’s in our favorite team colors, footballs, a fun metal Stadium sign, and a statue of a football player. I purchased the chalkboard bunting at the craft store and added “Game Time” with a chalk marker. I also made a couple of play charts that were easy to create. To make the play charts you will need:
1 black poster board
1 white chalk marker (or other white marker)
Cut the poster board in 11×14 or 8×10 size pieces. With the marker make up a fun football play with X’s, O’s and arrows. Then place the charts where you need a little more football decor.
I also made a football field table cloth out of green felt and white masking tape. You will need: Green felt by the yard, cut to your table size, White masking tape, White Sticker numbers, Ruler
With your felt cut to the size of your table decide how many yard lines you need. (Mine were 7″ apart). Mark where you need to place your lines and place your tape across the width of the felt. Rub the tape with your finger to make it stick well. When all your tape is placed, you can go back and trim away any excess. When your yard lines are placed, use the sticker numbers to mark the yards. I used a ruler to make sure the numbers lined up. Now you are ready to start adding the food to your party.
I thought for our Big-Game Party I would set up a RITZ® cracker bar along with ice cold Coca-Cola for the drinks. RITZ® crackers are fun to serve at a party. They can be topped with so many wonderful combinations and customized to any taste. I had both savory and sweet offerings at this party and they were all wonderful! The savory foods that I offered for toppings were:Shrimp & Cocktail Sauce, Boneless Wings, Homemade Southern Pimento Cheese (Recipe at the end of the post), Cream Cheese, Olives, Guacamole, Pepperoni, Mozzarella Cheese Slices, Sliced Roma Tomatoes
There are so many wonderful combinations to make with these ingredients. I think my husband’s favorites were the boneless wings and shrimp. I don’t know if I settled on a favorite because they were all so good, but I do really enjoy the homemade Pimento cheese spread.
The options for toppings are endless, but here is what I served: Raspberries, Sliced Strawberries, Marshmallow Creme, Apricot Jam, Chocolate Hazelnut Spread,Whipped Topping
For the whipped topping I turned the cans into the Referees on the field. This is so easy to do with a little black and white striped scrapbook paper and tape. Measure out the size you need to cut from your paper, wrap it around the bottle and tape. Thats it! It adds such a fun element to your table.
My family had such a fun time enjoying all the wonderful choices of food. Then to be able to choose an ice cold Coke to drink put the icing on the cake. I had so much fun putting this party together I couldn’t stop taking pictures!
I found all the food I needed for the party while I was shopping at Walmart. Right now until the Big Game in Feb. Walmart has a great offer of 2 for $5 on all Coca-Cola 16.9oz 6-packs. That makes it easy for you to serve lots of great Coke at your Big-Game party!
Today I am also going to share with you my easy recipe for Southern Pimento Cheese. This recipe is so simple to make and it has some intense flavor. If you make it the day before your party it will give the flavors a chance to meld together and be even better!
