Today I am going to show you how to make Broccoli Salad with Bacon. It is so EASY and makes a wonderful side dish, especially with Freschetta pizza.
Years ago my mom would fix Sunday dinner every week and we would all gather together to enjoy it. As with most cooks, she went through a phase where she would fix a certain recipe for every Sunday meal. That recipe was her broccoli salad.
It became on iconic recipe in our family. Since we had it so much, I haven’t fixed it in a few years and then I started to crave it. So I took her recipe and put my own spin on it. That is the great thing about any salad recipe. They are so easy to customize. You can add a little more of this or that, add a new ingredient or take one away.
While I stopped by Publix the other day I noticed all the wonderful versions of Freschetta pizza’s and knew that they would go nicely with my broccoli salad. For easy shopping just click on the image above to shop for Freschetta pizzas.

Along with pizza for dinner I like to fix a quick side dish. Broccoli salad is my go to choice for pizza because it compliments it well and whips up in a flash.
How do you make broccoli salad with bacon?
This recipe is so simple it can be thrown together in 10 minutes or less. You will need:
- 5 cups or 1 lb of broccoli florets
- 1 cup shredded cheese (I like gouda or pepper jack)
- 1/3 cup REAL bacon bits
- 1/2 cup good ranch dressing
I like to take a shortcut and buy a 2 lb bag of broccoli florets. I still cut them smaller, but they are washed and ready to go.
Cut the broccoli into the desired size and place in a bowl. Add the shredded cheese, bacon bits and ranch dressing. You can always add more or less of one ingredient or the other. It is easy to make this salad to your taste.
Gently stir until everything is well combined. It can be served immediately or covered and refrigerated.
Can you make broccoli salad the day before?
YES! This will give it time to chill and the flavors will blend together. It is great to make ahead and save prep time.
How long is broccoli salad good for?
Broccoli salad already made up should last 3-4 days in the fridge in a covered container. You cannot freeze broccoli salad. It would change the broccoli and the ranch dressing. Once thawed it would be pretty mushy.
