Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I am feverishly finalizing menus and recipes for the big meal. The last few years I have really enjoyed having homemade cranberry sauce on the Thanksgiving table. I always put a bit on my turkey to enjoy and it has such a wonderful flavor.
This recipe for Spiced Cranberry Sauce incorporates lots of Fall spices so while the sauce is cooking the house smells absolutely incredible. It is also fun to hear the cranberries start popping. That’s how you know it is cooking and when it is done.
This recipe will surely be a keeper. I know because I kept going back for more! It is pretty and fragrant and tastes absolutely delicious. A pure taste of Thanksgiving. Below is the printable recipe for you to enjoy for years to come.
Spiced Cranberry Sauce
- 1 bag fresh cranberries 12 oz
- 3/4 cup sugar
- Zest of 1 Orange
- Zest of 1 Lemon
- Juice of 1 Orange
- Juice of 1/2 a Lemon
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Place all ingredients in a large saucepan
- Bring to a boil
- Reduce heat to a simmer
- Simmer for 12 minutes, stirring occasionally
- (You will hear the berries popping as it cooks)
