We are deep in the thick of cold and flu season. Instead of being caught unprepared this year, I took a trip to Kroger to load up on cold and flu essentials. Whenever I get sick I don’t feel like running to the store. I would rather have everything I need on hand.
My cold and flu essential shopping trip this year included picking up Abreva® Pump Cold Sore and Fever Blister Treatment, Lipton Bedtime Bliss Tea,Robitussin® Maximum Strength Honey Cough & Chest Congestion DM, Theraflu Power Pods Daytime Severe Cold.
I chose these products because of their wonderful benefits during this cold and flu season. Abreva is easy to apply and is NOT for temporary symptom relief of a cold sore, but rather it heals it. Robitussin Honey soothes on contact and provides cough relief for hours and has true source certified honey. Theraflu Power Pods Daytime Severe Cold are also available in Nighttime Severe Cold. Plus they are super handy to use and offer powerful relief without a prescription. The pods are compatible with most single serve coffee makers making it where you can just Press and Sip. (Please note that Robitussin & Theraflu should not be used at the same time).
The Lipton* wellness range is made with essential oils and botanicals as a great way to be part of your everyday routine for wellbeing. Emergen-C Immune+® Super Orange is packed with Vitamin C and offers natural support for your immune system with key nutrients. I always have some on hand as part of my wellness routine.
Along with being prepared with a well stocked medicine cabinet, I have some quick kitchen cleaning tips to help you keep a healthy home.
5 minutes to a clean microwave:
I don’t know about you, but my microwave loves to get dirty and greasy. Foods splatter and pop when they cook and they get all over the place. For years I have been using this quick microwave cleaning method. In a microwave bowl I put 1 1/2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of vinegar and microwave on high for 3 minutes. This steams the inside and makes everything easy to wipe down. I then take a clean damp rag and wash everything down. After the vinegar water has cooled down a bit I use that to wipe down the rest of the kitchen.
Set a 5 minute timer:
The quickest way to a clean kitchen is to set a timer. It makes you hustle. The picture above is my before. It is not too terribly bad, except for the fact that a lot of that stuff had been sitting on the counter for weeks and I have been too lazy to put it away. Set the timer for 5 minutes and viola, I tidy kitchen. I even had time to wipe things down. (This would be great to do while waiting for your microwave to steam)
Wipe down the sink thoroughly
If you think about it, the sink can get pretty gross. This is where we clean our dishes, so it needs to be kept clean. I like to take some of the vinegar water I used in cleaning the microwave to make the sink shine. I wipe everything down, in and out and behind. The sink drains can get really dirty so I wash those last. A lot of times I use a paper towel to wash inside of the sink drains so I can just throw it away. I also will put the sink drain basket and the dish brush in the dishwasher to give them a thorough cleaning.
Refresh your garbage disposal
The garbage disposal gets a lot of use and can get smelly. A couple of slices of lemon or other citrus fruit run through the disposal will quickly freshen it up.
I hope these tips for a healthy home will help you in this cold and flu season. Keeping a clean kitchen and having these cold products on hand will help you in your wellness routine. To help you save money starting Feb. 20th, 2019 you can save $1.00 off Lipton Tea Herbal Supplement Wellness.
